Psalm 2 ~ Ask for the Nations

The world is against those who follow the way of the Lord. It is written 'All who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.' Psalm 46:10 says “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” God wants his glory to be made known throughout all the earth. We should shine like lights in the universe which proclaim his greatness day by day. When the world reviles we should act how Jesus did and not return their behaviour but continued entrusting himself to the One who Judges Justly. Luke 6:22-23 says “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets." We are called to love those who hate us and pray for those who persecute us. Christ calls us to go to all nations and proclaim his name. He has also promised when we ask according to his will we will receive. Our great God has promised that when we ask for the nations we will receive. It is God's will that his name may be known throughout all the earth and he has uses us, as his people, to accomplish that task.

Psalm 2

                Why do the nations rage
                                and the peoples plot in vain?
                The kings of the earth set themselves,
                                and the rulers take counsel together,
                                against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,
                “Let us burst their bonds apart
                                and cast away their cords from us.”

                He who sits in the heavens laughs;
                                the Lord holds them in derision.
                Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
                                and terrify them in his fury, saying,
                “As for me, I have set my King
                                on Zion, my holy hill.”

                I will tell of the decree:
                The LORD said to me, “You are my Son;
                                today I have begotten you.
                Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
                                and the ends of the earth your possession…

                Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
                                be warned, O rulers of the earth.
                Serve the LORD with fear,
                                and rejoice with trembling...
                Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

The song You Said comes from Psalm 2
